About us
We are a family-friendly club in the north Shropshire village of Baschurch, around 8 miles north west of Shrewsbury, and currently have approximately 130 members.  We are open to players of all ages and abilities, and welcome enquiries from prospective new members.
Based at Church Lane in Baschurch, we have two floodlit hard-surfaced courts, plus a clubhouse.  The surrounding area has been designed to facilitate wheelchair access. For the competitive player, we enter Men's and Ladies' teams in the Shropshire Inter-Club Doubles Summer League, and also have three mixed teams that take part in the Winter league. There is no obligation however to play matches, and many members are happy to play their tennis at a social level with friends and family.
We are fortunate to benefit from the services of a club coach (Sarah Hardie), and offer tennis lessons to those aged 3 and over,  aiming to provide a fun and safe environment in which children and adults can learn skills and tactics and develop a real love of the game before eventually progressing to tennis "proper".

In addition to the playing side, members can apply for Wimbledon tickets through the club, and we also run occasional social events that are

Membership fees for 2013-14 are as follows: Family - £140, Adult - £75, Junior (under 18 or in full time education) - £40.
Baschurch was among the first clubs in Shropshire to obtain the LTA Clubmark registration - for details please click on the Clubmark logo above.

Latest News

Although the hard core enthusiasts have been playing throughout the Winter months, the thought of lighter evenings and (hopefully) warmer weather means that tennis becomes a far more attractive prospect once again.  Good news is that Baschurch Tennis Club membership fees remain unchanged for the coming season starting in April. These are £140 for Families, £75 for single Adults, and £40 for Junior members. Our Membership Secretary is Sheila Field (01939 260081). For those renewing, prompt payment is appreciated thanks.

The Summer League fixtures meeting should be taking place soon to arrange matches for the coming season. Baschurch are entering 3 Ladies’ teams and 3 Men’s teams again this year. The official Club Cleaning Day is set for 20th April, when all members are invited to come along to help give the club house and general surrounds a Spring clean. This is ahead of our annual Open Day on Saturday 27th April (12:00 onwards), which is open to members and non-members alike.

cleaningLooking a bit further forward, the club is planning to hold a Chairman’s Day tournament again next summer. We did this for the first time in 2012, run as a none too serious American (round robin) competition for all ages and abilities. The event was so well received that it’s back by popular demand. The date we have in mind is Sunday 23rd June, but details will be confirmed nearer the time.

Our current series of coaching sessions runs through til the end of March, with lessons for children after school on Thursdays and on Saturday mornings, plus a range of Adult sessions. For anyone interested in joining in, don’t wait til April – have a word with Sarah Hardie on 07951 264209.
